A Friend of the Family schools have been founded to help children overcome disciplinary challenges. One of our basic assumptions is that behavior is a set of skills that can be taught and learned. The ultimate goal of the schools administered by AFOF is to teach the social, behavioral, and educational skills necessary to successfully integrate the student back into the traditional classroom. To aid in this transition, our curricula include social skills such as conflict resolution and anger management.
Our Mission is:
- To provide supportive services that will assess and offer techniques to enhance academics, behavior management, evaluations, and family intervention.
- To provide an educational program, inclusive of individual and group counseling, academic instruction, and family intervention in accordance with state requirements.
Our schools feature small class sizes. Each student receives an individualized academic and behavior plan. The student's district schools help develop this plan so that it can continue to be implemented when the student returns to the district school. All our schools offer a wide range of opportunities, including diverse student activities, strengthening of academic and behavior skills, and helping students to realize their potential is unlimited.
